This is not a basic cocktail-making class. Urban Barrel's Barrel-Aged Cocktail Classes are hands-on workshops held at our Ottawa location for people who care about whiskey, rum, spirits and serious cocktails—or want to understand them at a deeper level.

Guests explore how oak, char, toast, barrel size, seasoning and time change a spirit; compare barrel-aged spirits and cocktails; learn how to build and age barrel-safe cocktail bases; and discuss finishing techniques inspired by the way distillers think about cask influence.

The workshops are built for whiskey and rum clubs, spirit enthusiasts, cocktail enthusiasts, bartenders and serious home mixologists, as well as workplace teams such as real estate offices, government departments, professional groups and corporate teams. The focus is education, tasting, technique and conversation—not a party-style cocktail class.

For guests who want to keep going after the workshop, The Barrel Syndicate is the natural next step—a private community for continuing the conversation, sharing barrel projects, comparing techniques and connecting with other serious enthusiasts.
